Website Usability Guidelines

Web Page List

Follow these usability recommendations:

  • Website Lists - Lists are common on e-commerce websites. Each list should be clearly introduced and have a descriptive title. The order of the items should be the most important items first.

  • Bullets Vs. Numbers - Bullets are preferred by most users. If you use numbered lists ensure that you start with the number 1 instead of zero. Only use numbered list if a particular order is important.

  • Easy Website Scanning - Format list for easy scanning by keeping the word count below 10. Try to avoid text wrapping. Wrapping is hard to read and the user may miss important information.

  • List Website Headings - Provide an introductory heading at the top of each list. By doing this the user will understand the purpose of the list.

  • Use Website Static Menus - Put the most frequently used items in the top of a link menu. This will improve user's performance and accuracy.
