Website Homepage (2 of 4)

Follow these usability recommendations:

Logo Placement - Upper Left Corner. Your logo is the first step in establishing branding.

Logo Size - Recommended size: 68 x 80 pixels.

Search - Provide search on the Homepage in a square search box.

Search Placement - Upper part of page in left or right corner.

Search Box - Color White

Search Button - Call it Search (Go is also acceptable)

Search Box Width - At least 25 characters, but 30 characters is better.

Type of Search - Simple search is better.

Splash Page - No. A splash page is a website page that the user sees first before being given the option to continue to the main content of the website.

About the Company - It is recommended that the Homepage have an About Us link. To establish credentials as a bona fide company, you must give visitors an easy way to discover your company background and services.

Contact Us - It is recommended that the Homepage have a Contact Us link. Typically supply the company and telephone number, mailing address, and email address. Provide the standard information for any special departments within the company.

Privacy Policy - It is recommended that the Homepage have a Privacy Policy link to encourage your visitors to trust your site. Typically the link is located at the bottom of the page.
